4-Ingredient Healthy Chocolate Mousse

I'm well known for my 'odd' food combos. Surprisingly, in my opinion they always turn out pretty god damn good! Cacao and avocado marry each other perfectly in this recipe. The deep bitterness of cacao and the creamy texture of avocado, with the help of the sweetness of banana, really make this recipe a go-to for me at the moment. Perfect for breakfast, a snack or dessert (or even eat it for lunch or dinner if you're needing a sweet fix).

Cacao has amazing health benefits, particularly due to the high content of antioxidants. Avocados are rich in monounsaturated fat, fat-soluble vitamins and antioxidants. And who doesn't love bananas? They're often given a bad rep due to their high sugar content, but bananas also are quite nutrtious, as they are rich in potassium and magnesium. This recipe will not only keep you satisfied, but also do wonders for you body.

I also add a drop of Doterra Peppermint Essential Oil to give it a minty twist. Super delicious with some coconut yoghurt, berries and cacao nibs.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 a ripe avocado

  • 1 medium sized ripe-ish banana

  • 1 tablespoon of cacao powder

  • 1 teaspoon of coconut oil

Method

Either mash all ingredients in a bowl or add to your blender and mix to combine. If the avocado is a little hard, you may need to add a little liquid (coconut milk works well) to give the mixture a smoother consistency. Enjoy with your favourite toppings!
