About Naturopathy

Naturopathic Medicine is a holistic medical modality that recognises the body is very intricate and thus focuses on treating the whole person and the root cause of health issues. This is done via supporting an individual to live a healthy lifestyle, especially via promoting the consumption of a nourishing diet, drinking clean and filtered water, exercising, practicing stress management, and getting adequate sunlight. Where appropriate, the prescription of dietary and lifestyle modifications, herbal medicine, and vitamin/mineral/nutraceutical supplementation is made that is best catered for the individual.

About The Holistic Appetite

  • Identify and Treat the Causes (Tolle Causam)

  • First Do No Harm (Primum Non Nocere)

About Our Founder

Ashleigh Horvat is a degree-qualified Naturopath (BHSc) and Registered Nurse (BHSc) working in the Primary Healthcare setting (General Practice) with 8 years of experience in the field of health. She currently resides in the Macedon Ranges, approximately 45 minutes North West of Melbourne, Victoria.

From a very young age, Ashleigh always asked "why?". She searched for the root cause of everything, and was fascinated by why things happened in nature and in our bodies. Throughout her teens, she lost touch with this instinctual nature, up until she started to experience health issues herself in her early 20s. From struggles with an eating disorder in her early 20s, to experiencing gut, skin, mental health, and hormonal issues, Ashleigh found herself turning to Natural Medicine for help and this was when she fell in love with Naturopathy.

Ashleigh has a passion for inspiring and assisting others in feeling well again and supporting them on their health journey. From her experience working as a Nurse, she understands that there is a need for conventional medicine and thus she takes a very integrative approach to healthcare to obtain the best quality health outcomes for her clients. Ashleigh is willing to work in integration with your healthcare team, including your General Practitioner, and she often utilises pathology and functional testing where applicable, combining this with evidence-based Naturopathic Medicine to help you feel well again. She keeps up to date with current research to ensure quality clinical care is provided and optimal outcomes can be achieved. Ashleigh has a special interest in gut, skin, hormones, and mental health, but she is willing to treat any area of health as she's a generalist when it comes to Naturopathic Care.
